International Symposium on Dementia


The Bangalore Chapter of Alzheimer’s and Related Disorders Society of India (ARDSI) in association with Nightingales Medical Trust (NMT) has organized a three day International Symposium on Dementia from 14th September, 2018 at J. N. Tata Auditorium, Bangalore.

The Symposium was inaugurated by Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda, Hon’ble Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare in the presence of Shri Shivanand Patil, Hon’ble Health Minister of Karnataka and Prof. Kasturirangan. The highlight of the event was submission of Dementia India Strategy Report to the Hon’ble Union Minister of Health.

The Conference provided a platform for experts to deliberate on the latest developments in the field of Alzheimer’s care and research and to share their experiences for the benefit of those with Dementia and their families. Over 600 delegates participated in the Symposium. As part of the event there were workshops for family physicians, para medical staff, caregivers, senior citizens and NGOs. The Conference which culminated on 16th September also saw several competitions such as quiz, slogan and poster making and contests highlighting innovations in Dementia care.

Leading actor, Shri Prakash Raj participated in the Public Forum and spoke about removing the stigma associated with Dementia and promoting a Dementia friendly environment.
