Job Fair for Senior Citizens - 2017

Responding to the need for financial security among senior citizens, Nightingales Jobs 60+ jointly with the Karnataka Vocational Training and Skill Development Corporation organized a Job Fair for Senior Citizens on Sunday, 26 March 2017 at the Nalapad Pavilion, Palace Grounds, Bangalore from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm.

The fair was inaugurated by Sri. Ghulam Nabi Azad, Leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha in the presence of Dr. Radha S. Murthy, Mr. S. Premkumar Raja, Founder Trustees of Nightingales Medical Trust, Sri. Dinesh Gundu Rao, MLA, Sri. Oscar Fernandez, Member of Parliament and Smt. Umashree, Member of Karnataka Legislative Assembly.

Over 5,400 senior citizens from various backgrounds - engineers, technicians, supervisors, administrators, teachers, accountants, professionals etc. participated in the fair. Volunteers welcomed them with a kit and assisted them in filling up the registration forms after which, they were sent to the employer booths for the interviews.

61 employers participated in the job fair. Names of Employers and the types of vacancies available were displayed in the premises for the senior citizens’ referral.

“The response was quite good in terms of the number of resumes received. The number of matches to our open positions was on expected lines (since we were looking for technical expertise). The facility arrangements were excellent and above our expectations” was the feedback received from Peenya Industrial Association.

Outcome of the Job Fair: 1,623 candidates selected and 482 candidates shortlisted for a second round with employers.
